Greg Hanahan began serving on the OTARMA Board of Directors in 2005. He is
currently serving in his 14th year as an elected official in Montgomery
County. Greg has been active in local government for over 30 years beginning
in German Township. Five years ago, Greg was chosen to lead Miami Township
as their administrator, managing the day-to-day operations of one of Ohio’s
fastest growing townships.
As one of the key leaders in the region on economic development, Greg has
brought well in excess of 100 million dollars in new projects to Miami
Township. Additionally, he serves on the Economic Development/Government
Equity (ED/GE) Committee, which provides funding for economic development
initiatives throughout Montgomery County.
Greg’s approach to economic development and increased cooperation between
governmental agencies and private business has been recognized throughout
the State of Ohio. He is an Ohio Economic Development Association Member and
a member of the local chambers of commerce in Dayton and the South Metro
Area.
Greg graduated from Valley View High School, where he was active in the
National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America and participated in
football and track. He is still a member of the Valley View Booster
Club. Greg went on to study Civil Engineering at Sinclair Community College.
Greg has served on the Ohio Township Association (OTA) Board of Directors
for 10 years currently serving as the 1st Vice President. The OTA recently
recognized him as a graduate of the OTA Leadership Academy. Greg also has
served as the Montgomery County Township Association President for the past
12 years representing all the township residents of Montgomery County, and
as a Farm Bureau member recognizing the rural and agricultural portions of
this area.
He serves on the Employer Support for Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR) as
a State Committee Member, a committee that supports the National Guard and
Reserve members, their families and their employers. Greg’s membership in
the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association supports active duty and
retired military members in the Miami Valley. It is a top priority for Greg
to ensure that the military members and their families are supported,
recognizing they give so much to insure our daily freedoms.
Greg is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County where he and his wife,
Etta, live on the family farm. They have one daughter, Kea and one son,
Clint. They are parishioners of Germantown United Methodist Church. In his
free time, Greg is an avid boater and car enthusiast and has been a private
pilot for over 20 years.
